Sarah T. Moore | Managing Editor of Best Of

When we started working on “Best Of 2024” in May of the previous year, we knew we wanted to share the parts of Elon University and the surrounding community that make us countdown the days during breaks, the places we show our friends when they visit, the best spots to study and the moments that made the past year memorable. Highlighting a variety of events and businesses, “Best Of 2024” is a guide to Elon as voted by students, staff, faculty and local residents.

This year we brought back categories from previous years, as well as introducing new categories that we felt reflected the Elon community, such as best student owned business. We chose to theme this year’s “Best Of” around postcards — whose “wish you were here” sentiment aligned with our goals of sharing Elon’s community with our readers. We hope this year’s “Best Of” showcases some of what connects our campus community.

Greetings from
the designer
Erin Martin | Design Chief

I’m thrilled to introduce the “Best Of 2024” edition as the Design Chief for Elon News Network. This guide, a product of our collective efforts, reflects the diverse opinions within our community and serves as a compass for exploring our campus and local surroundings.

From a design perspective, we chose a theme centered around postcards and stamps – symbols of connection and exploration. Each section features a unique color palette crafted to capture Elon’s diverse and vibrant essence. Modern color trends and typography enhance the visual experience for our readers.

The success of our designs is a result of collaborative dedication and creativity. Looking ahead, I’m excited about the possibilities the new year holds for Elon News Network and our dynamic community. I hope you enjoy the pages of “Best Of 2024” and maybe find a new spot you didn’t know about before.
